Pixel Art With Books

A nice simple way to make art in your own home using ordinary paper.

Concept Development

The concept has developed from having five or six different hard drives for all sorts of data (one for pictures, one for videos etc.), down to two - one for work and one for play.

I came to this conclusion because on nearly all computers, work files are mixed up with more sentimental files - such as pictures - decreasing their value to the user. If these two types of data were stored and organised in two physically different places, the user can appreciate each files contents more.

Organisation & Storage

For my project on the physical organisation and storage of digital information, I am currently researching different storage techniques. I never knew how many different types there are!

I hope my research will uncover the use of different materials and techniques depending on the nature of the objects function and value so I can apply it in context.

Snow Globes

I really like these snow globes with a humourous twist! Created by Walter Martin and Paloma Munoz.

Green Team

This semester, one of the projects for DHTP is to work with other disciplines in groups to create a sustainable business. The team has only been together for just over a week, but we're making great progress! Everyone's getting on with everyone else and there's a good vibe.

Our idea for the business is selling recycled covers, made from rubbish, to give old furniture a new lease of life buy changing the aesthetics of it. We're currently researching materials for this.

The teams blog is here, if you want to have a sneaky peek - but be warned it's just been created and there's not a lot of content on it... for now!

Hmm...

I seem to have lost two months! So I'll have to bring you back to speed:

Christmas (yay!)
New Year (yaaaaaaaaay!)
Back to Uni (yay?)

Before we split up for xmas, we were given a choice of briefs from D&AD.
These were:
Design a product that encourages people to drink tap water
Design an Antarctic explorer device with the style of Fortnum & Masons
Design a computer related product that encourages the creative mind

As I enjoy the freedom of an open brief, I chose the third option.

So during the holidays and the last two weeks, I had to come up with
one hundred ideas, from the research I had gathered. Needless to say
my head hurts from all that thinking!

From the 100, we had to narrow it down to 1 in one day - last Tuesday.

The winner is a system of organising and storing digital memory in a
physical way. I've got a lot of research to do!

I'll try to get some pics of the sketchbook up when I get it back
(it's currently being assessed).
